If you are a Children's Book Collector you are viewing

a Rare and Valuable treasure!

This is the Original 1944 Publication of Rabbit Hill by Robert Lawson and an Original Bookplate used on the book in it's original printing!
This book won the 1945 Newbery Award for Children's Literature in 1945. The Newbery Award is the most prestigious and honored award given for Children's Literature.
This is a delightful story of friendship, family, and adventure that has been acclaimed, read, and told over and over now for over 60 years.  (I've read it and it's absolutely fun and inspiring).
The book itself, being 9½ inches tall and 6½ inches wide, is in excellent condition. Only the cover has any real wear other than age that is noticeable.    Even after 66 years there is very minimal aging of the pages and the spline and pages are all intact.  The cover has shelf wear from over the years and a tad ragged on the edges.  The Newbery Medal Stamp on the front cover is also worn away some on one side. (see photos)   The 128 page book has 53 intricate and detailed illustrations that were also done by Mr. Lawson.
The bookplate is a real find to be together with this book.  It is the plate used to print the illustration on page 11 of the book. (see photos).  It is obvious the plate was handtacked to the wood block.  The words "Lawson Rabbit Hill Viking is etched into the back by hand with a pen.  The plate is 5 7/8 inches square and has ink bleed of about 1/8 -1/4 inches into the wood from the book being printed.   It is in most excellent condition.
This is one of those rare items that we take great pleasure into presenting.  The pieces were not acquired together, but found separately months apart.  We are very happy to present it to you for your collection.  It is a showpiece set that you will be proud to own.
If you need any further photos, have questions, or want to offer sharing or input for this set, please contact us through email, or through the Online Support Message Center on our home page.  We always answer correspondence immediately upon receiving.
